Best Places To Enjoy In Osaka In 2019

As the second biggest city in Japan after Tokyo, Osaka has a lot to offer in terms of activities, gastronomy, and culture. If Tokyo is the modern and fancy capital of Japan, Osaka is a relaxing and funny city to visit while being in Kansai.

So if you go to Kyoto, why not take a train to visit Osaka for a few days? Between places to visit and spots for foodies, here is a list of the best places to enjoy in Osaka.

Osaka Castle

It is one of the most famous castles in Japan. Located in the middle of Osaka, the monument is a witness of Japanese history. It played a major role during the unification of Japan in the 16th century.

You can learn more about Japan History while visiting the castle. But the best part is arriving at the top of the monument. From there you will have an amazing view of all the city.

A large park surrounds the castle, good for a nice walk. Several types of trees are there, making the castle the host of natural events. You can come and watch plum blossoms, cherry blossoms but also autumn colored leaves. There are also night illuminations!

Universal Studios Japan

If you are a big fan of rollercoasters and iconic movies, go to Universal Studios Japan. The theme park is the home of great attractions full of wonders!

Here you can visit the world of Jurassic Park or the universe of Harry Potter. Raptors are walking in the streets while people go to Ollivander to get their wand.

You will even be able to see zombies walks for Halloween, illuminations for Christmas and singing shows.

From Snoopy Studios to Hollywood Boulevard, walk in those famous movies and create beautiful memories! Sometimes the park is hosting events about popular mangas like Evangelion or Attack of Titan!

Kaiyukan Aquarium

Kaiyukan Aquarium is one of the world biggest aquariums. It is a good spot to watch underwater life while having a relaxing time. Whale sharks, sea lions, otters, and seals; amazing and different animals are living there.

Several sections have been made to give visitors the best experience possible. They have an exhibit area where you can feel the temperature, noises, and smells of different sea environments.

From 5 pm, the place changes its face for a night exhibition. The music and light inside are modified to offer a romantic sight of the aquarium.

Dōtonbori street

It is a unique path along the Dōtonbori river. You can enjoy Osaka street food, fancy restaurants, and many shops there. It is a perfect spot for nightlife and having fun with your friends.

Delicious food is waiting for you at Dōtonbori street. If you like street food, try okonomiyaki, takoyaki or yakisoba. If you prefer to seat while eating, have some kitsune udon or fugu. Dōtonbori street is a heaven for foodies!

The street is also famous for its large illuminated signboards. The most famous ones are the Glico sign man, the mechanized crab, and the astonishing blowfish lantern.

Minoo Park

Located less than 30 minutes from the city center, Minoo Park is a quiet space, far from noisy streets and restaurants. If you wish to take a break from the big city, Minoo Park is a nice place to go for an afternoon.

Its most famous attraction is its pretty waterfall of 33 meters high. But you can also visit some temples like the Ryuanji Temple and its red bridge.

The park is well-known for the fall season. Momijis are all around! During that time of the year, shops even offer a sweet treat called Momiji tempura, which is a maple leaf deep fried in batter. Sounds delicious!
